Here’s why the “Make me a sandwich, [epithet for females]!” “joke” is neither a joke nor funny.

missworded:

Women are unequal in our society.  They are underpaid, underrepresented in government and business, and often considered little more than walking egg sacs.

So the “make me a sandwich” line does nothing but emphasize a status quo that’s been around for thousands of years.  It’s not new.   It’s not interesting.  It’s the same old fucking thing.

It’s not a joke — it’s life.

It’s not a clever play on society — it is society.

It’s not funny because it’s tired.  It reduces women to nothing more than kitchen lackeys, which is, of course, the very point.  The intent is never humor — it’s to demean.  When people say “It’s a joke,” what they really mean is “Shut up and stop trying to change the status quo.”

What a sad little “joke” it is.  There’s not even a punch line, unless you count my facepalm.
